Weston’s First Dentist Answers Frequently Asked Questions About All-On-Four Full Mouth Dental Implants

What is the difference between All-On-Four dental implants and traditional implants?

All-On-Four uses only 4 implants to replace all of your upper teeth. Traditional implants use 5-8 implants. All-On-4 does not require bone grafting and has a higher overall success rate. The All-On-Four procedure generally costs less and requires less time in the dentist chair.

How Does All-On-Four Work?

It allows you to get a full mouth of new teeth with just a few implants. You don’t need to go through the process of having implants done for every single individual tooth. Eventually the titanium dental implant fuses with your jawbone providing you with a strong, safe and secure set of permanently fixed new teeth.

How do I know if All-On-Four is right for me?

Over 90% of patients are eligible for All-On-Four. The initial evaluation generally involves the creation of a 3D image of your jaw in order to evaluate bone quality, volume & quantity and to ensure you are a candidate for the procedure.

Will the line between the fixed bridge and the jaw bone be visible?

During the All-on-4 procedure adjustments can be made to ensure that your bridge remains hidden.

Is it possible that I may require more than 4 four implants?

Yes. While typically only 4 implants are needed additional implants may be needed in some cases to ensure the strength of your new teeth.

I never heard of All-on-4. Is it a common procedure?

All-on-4 is a somewhat new procedure, and therefore not all dentists are trained in this procedure. In your initial consultation, we will make an evaluation in which treatment option is best for you.

Is it a painful procedure?

No. It is a painless procedure. You can expect to have some swelling and soreness for a few days after the procedure but that’s about it. You should be fully recovered and adjusted to your new teeth in a day or two.

Will it affect my diet?

For the first few months you will need to avoid brittle or very chewy foods but after that you can eat normally.

How long does it take?

There is an initial consultation. The procedure itself is generally done in one day.

How successful is the procedure?

All-on-four has over a 98% success rate.

Is it expensive?

The cost varies. With just four implants on the top and four on the bottom All-On-Four is an investment that will leave you with a beautiful, new smile for the rest of your life!
