Preventive Care

Weston Florida’s Leading Dental Practice for Preventive Care

Our Dental Clinic offers following Preventative Care Services:

Successful preventative dentistry is at the heart of what we practice. We would rather see you for frequent check-ups and cleanings to reduce the need for expensive and difficult procedures in the future. We are dedicated to preventing tooth decay and periodontal (gum) disease before it develops. The way to avoid that is to practice the proper oral hygiene at home and to schedule regular check ups and cleanings in our office.

Regular office visits include:

Examination of teeth and gums: We check for signs of tooth decay, tooth wear, mobility, periodontal (gum) disease, and other potential health problems.

Cleanings (Prophylaxis): We remove accumulations of calculus, tartar, plaque and common stains from red wine, tea, coffee or smoking.

Diagnostic x-rays: We check for decay, bone loss and root positions. We offer Digital x-rays which utilize significantly less radiation.

Check current restorations: We’ll check your existing fillings and crowns to see if they are still functioning properly.

Evaluate Caries Risk: We can sample and evaluate the bacteria in your mouth to determine if you are at high risk for future cavities.  You then have the option to reduce the risk of future cavities by using the CariFree System

Apply sealant:  If necessary we’ll apply a sealant to your teeth to prevent food and bacteria from becoming trapped in the pits and grooves to reduce the risk of cavity formation.

Oral cancer screening: We’ll examine your entire mouth including lips, tongue, cheeks and throat for any signs of oral cancer.

Oral hygiene consulting: We’ll discuss any special oral hygiene aids that we feel you may benefit from like electric toothbrushes, fluoride rinses, xylitol supplements, antibiotic therapy, cleaning aids, etc.

Polishing: We’ll remove remaining plaque and stains.

TMJ Evaluation: We will evaluate how your teeth meet and function.  We will check the state of the opening and closing muscles.  Finally, we listen for signs of wear of your TM joint itself by use of a Doppler device.
