In-office teeth whitening procedure, or for professional take-home teeth whitening kits. Also, if you are planning any cosmetic dentistry such as bonding, porcelain veneers, etc, you should plan to complete any teeth whitening at least 2 weeks before your cosmetic restoration treatment so that we can match a correct shade during your treatment.
What are th e Different Teeth Whitening Options?
Zoom! In-Office Teeth Whitening:
For the fastest, longest-lasting whitening, our office uses the Zoom! System. After determining that your teeth are able to be whitened safely, we protect your lips and gums; and apply the concentrated solution that only a dentist can legally utilize. Then in conjunction with the Zoom! Light system, which accelerates the whitening process, we treat your teeth for three sessions (approximately 15-20 minutes each). To continue/maintain whitening, we also provide you with a customized home-use whitening system.
Professional Take-Home Teeth Whitening Kits:
If you have more time to achieve your desired level of whitening (at least 2 weeks), and are willing to use the custom-made trays that we will prepare for you for, then this is an option that can eventually provide the highest level of teeth whitening. We will also evaluate your teeth, and determine which whitening compound is appropriate for you.The whitening compound that we can provide you is stronger and hence more effective than the Over-the-Counter (or drug-store) whitening products.
Over-the Counter (OTC) Teeth Whitening:
There is a tremendous variety of OTC whitening products available today, but they all require more time to achieve whitening as compared to the others types of tooth whitening described above.Additionally, if used improperly, these whiteners can harm your tooth enamel and/or irritate your gums.To ensure that this does not happen, we recommend that you let us suggest which product may be most appropriate for your teeth during your next visit with us.
